Old Melbourne Gaol
______________________
Been a long time since I've blogged.
Haven't really been in the mood~
Anyways, on a lighter note,
I've finally visited the
Old Melbourne Gaol.
I've walked past it a thousand times
but never seen the need to visit it.
This time,
in the name of research,
I went to have a look.
Talk about dark tourism.
Had an assignment about
!! Authenticity !!
(Don't even remind me about it)
Am doing another tourism unit this sem,
so, for my assignment,
I had to write and essay
about authenticity of heritage sites.
Once again,
poor Neyney had to come along as well~
Paid $30 each for a 1.5hr candlelit night tour.
Crash course on history:
Melbourne Gaol is Victoria's oldest
surviving penal establishment.
It currently exhibits 19th century gaol life,
including the death masks
and memorabilia of some of
Melbourne's most notorious criminals.
The prison was also a focus during some of
Australia’s most significant historical moments,
including the Gold Rush and World War II.
Entrance: Old Melbourne Gaol
Little something tt I found interesting~
Lonely corridors

kINDA disrepectful,
but hey lighten up :P
Not tin robots,
apparently its the original iron masks
that prisoners have to wear.

**Didn't have much time to take
photos cause was kinda rush...
